The Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary or Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary is the right place. Located 20 km east of Mananthavady on Kodagu road, the sanctuary is a natural habitat for many animal species. A jeep ride through the jungles may lead to spotting herds of elephants, gaurs, deer, monkeys, tigers, leopards, bears, reptiles, fish, butterflies and birds. Visitor movement, however, will be restricted to the outer tourist zone as part of efforts to conserve nature.
